Betting Glossary

A decentralized digital ledger that records transactions across many computers. In crypto betting, it powers fast deposits and provably fair games.

A bet that gives one team a virtual advantage or disadvantage to level the playing field. The favourite must win by more than the handicap to cover.

The mathematical advantage a casino holds on every bet, expressed as a percentage of each wager the casino expects to keep as profit over time.

Placing bets on a sporting event after it has already started, with odds updating in real-time based on what is happening in the game as the action unfolds.

A bet on which team or player will win a game outright, with no point spread involved. The odds reflect each side's implied probability of winning.

A bet on whether the total combined score of a game will finish higher or lower than a number set by the sportsbook. Also called a totals bet.

A single bet combining two or more selections. All picks must win for the bet to pay out, but the combined odds create a higher potential return.

A bet on how much a team wins or loses by, not just who wins. The sportsbook sets a point handicap to level the playing field.
